Hearing impaired men and women tend to have a greater probability of drug use issues due to their impairment, and rehabilitation services must be available which cater to their needs. Many hearing impaired individuals then opt to self medicate with alcohol or drugs to numb this pain and experience a temporary release from the emotional and psychological problems that come with possessing this handicap in daily life.
