Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be very useful in situations where traditional rehab facilities have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations in a women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such difficulties may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or another significant issues that are particular to women. Research has revealed that women may also get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness as a consequence of drug abuse problems than males consequently. With this in mind, treatment services for women are designed to ensure that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, alcohol and drug rehab programs which provide treatment services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a 1st step. After this step, counselors help women focus on both standard and gender-specific concerns which may have triggered their drug or alcohol use. Women also utilize the constructive support from other female peers, and a few programs that provide rehabilitation services to women offer client beds for her young children.
