Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days per week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
