Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in circumstances where traditional rehabilitation settings have fallen short, including dealing with situations in a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such difficulties may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other really serious issues that are particular to women. Research shows that women may also become involved in drug use more readily than men, and so are more vulnerable to sickness as a result of addiction issues than males consequently. Because of obligations in the home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. That said, rehab services for women are designed to ensure that a women's needs would be the focus and priority.
