A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home might help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a practical temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
