Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may trigger drug or alcohol use, or risky sexual conduct due to drug abuse may have caused the individual to contract the disease. People who have HIV/AIDS, either due to their drug abuse or as a pre-existing problem before their drug abuse issue, typically require rehabilitation services tailored in order to meet their particular needs and problems. Many of these challenges are physical in nature, because of the fact that drug users with HIV/AIDS almost never look after themselves and take the proper medicines they need to preserve their own health. Because of this, these individuals arrive to treatment in very poor physical shape and this will have to be addressed as a priority whilst addressing other crucial issues. In addition to the obvious requirement to deliver medical services during treatment, individuals with HIV/AIDS also have to address more deeply rooted problems which prompted their alcohol or drug use. Frequently, people have situations within their lives which are purely environmental which may have caused them to use alcohol or drugs, including oppressive conditions in their lives or damaging relationships. These are the issues which rehab counselors will target as part of HIV/AIDS rehabilitation services.
