TRICARE is medical insurance that's provided to folks in the military of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is more common than one would think, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be required to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, which can be organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors standing by to assist you today.
