A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside within a group home may be involved in rehab services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to enable them to at some time live independently not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, however it is a viable short term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together.
