Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab choice.
