A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. Residents within a group home might be taking part in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at one point live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a practical temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
