LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This can be a very hard and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate these feelings. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which should be handled in order to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family members, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This circumstance is certainly a common trigger for abusing drugs, and is also an example of something would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life clear of alcohol and drugs.
