TRICARE is medical health insurance that's provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would think, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different rehabilitation services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any kind of rehabilitation service, which is often organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very helpful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors waiting to assist you today.
