Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or several days a week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
