Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or several days each week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial treatment alternative.
