Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered like a far better option than jail time or heavy fines for those who have already been convicted of any sort of drug or alcohol related crime. As an example, anyone who has been found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be eligible to obtain rehabilitation services for his or her problem as opposed to serving time in prison. The judge may even order that the individual receive rehab, either alone or in addition to other consequences. First-time offenders in particular tend to be given the chance to choose a criminal justice client rehab rather than other sentencing, and it is well-advised that they reap the benefits of it when it is a choice. The concept behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is way more effective and efficient to invest effort and time into rehabilitation than enforcement of other consequences. Much research has been done to observe how effective this approach is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the individual returns or not to criminal justice system following treatment. All indicators seem to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation have a better possibility of remaining out of the judicial system following treatment.
