LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This can be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not exactly feel safe within a conventional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment that's free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which should be resolved so that they can get better. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and is also a good example of an issue that can be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free of drugs and alcohol.
