Medicare is a type of medical insurance developed by the government for senior citizens, in addition to people who have certain disabilities and diseases. If someone who has Medicare needs rehabilitation for cases of drug or alcohol abuse, their rehabilitation will either be covered completely by their Medicare insurance or to a significant degree. The only exception is, the individual will have to obtain treatment from the drugs and alcohol detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the individual will be permitted to start rehab, they may also have to visit their primary care physician who must state that rehab services are medically necessary, and the doctor will generally approve what sort of rehabilitation the person will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation services. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted center when the individual needs to be hospitalized for his or her problem, as well as the costs which they willwill have to cover personally are the same as every other stay in a hospital. Part B will partly cover outpatient rehab in the Medicare accepted program, and the individual will need to cover whatever Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance coverage or they're going to have to self pay.
