Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab centers which offer rehab on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
