Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days per week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
