Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in situations where conventional rehab facilities have fallen short, including dealing with situations inside a women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or another really serious issues which are particular to women. Research has shown that women can also get involved in drug use more easily than men, and are more predisposed to sickness as a result of dependency issues than males as a result. Because of obligations in the home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and undergoing treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster. Being mindful of this, treatment services for women are created to ensure a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Just like coed facilities, drug treatment programs that provide rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a 1st step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both general and gender specific concerns who have brought about their drug or alcohol use. Women also may take advantage of the beneficial support from their female peers, and some facilities that provide rehab services to women also provide client beds for her children.
