Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time every day or several days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment option.
