A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home could be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some time live on their own away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a practical short term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
