Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment alternative.
