A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents within a group home could be taking part in rehab services during residence, or might be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some time live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a viable temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
