Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or a few days a week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities that provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
