Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment choice.
