Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment choice.
