Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or a few days per week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
