LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This may be an extremely tough or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of substance abuse to numb this pain. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel safe within a conventional rehab center amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which must be resolved to enable them to get well. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in the case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of something which can be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free of alcohol and drugs.
