Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which provide rehabilitation to deal with both mental health and addiction concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is a very prevalent situation for folks involved with substance abuse, as those that have mental health issues often medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to to feel some type of short-term respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, treatment counselors will help people through a detailed rehab plan all geared towards restoring and replenishing mental, physical and emotional health whilst addressing substance abuse concerns. Providing a secure environment is key to ensure dual diagnosis clients can be comfortable and remain free from distraction from things which may cut across their treatment plan and progress. Rehabilitation counselors will work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things which need to be addressed in order for the individual to stay mentally stable and sober t when they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab that helps them develop more effective coping methods so that they are able to better handle life situations more proficiently once they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as an inferior answer.
