LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel at ease inside a traditional rehabilitation program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program offers an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which need to be handled to be able to get well. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of an issue that will be resolved in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life clear of alcohol and drugs.
