Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab alternative.
