LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This is sometimes a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel safe inside a conventional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which need to be resolved to be able to recover. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their family, in the event their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, which is an example of something would be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free from alcohol and drugs.
