A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home could possibly be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home so that they can at some time live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a viable temporary option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
