Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time each day or several days per week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
