TRICARE is health care insurance that's provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, and also rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will obviously need to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehab service, which is often organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the favored rehab option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very useful, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional treatment counselors ready to help today.
