Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be very helpful in situations where traditional treatment facilities have fallen short, for example coping with situations inside a women's life which can be distinctive and distressing. Such difficulties may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or any other serious issues that are particular to women. Research has shown that women could also get embroiled in drug use more easily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness as a consequence of addiction issues than males consequently. Because of obligations in their home, women also tend to postpone looking for and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. That said, treatment services for women are designed in order that a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Similar to coed facilities, alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities that offer treatment solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women concentrate on both standard and gender specific problems who have brought about their drug abuse. Women also enjoy the constructive support from their female peers, and some centers that offer rehab services to women provide client beds for her young children.
