A group home for someone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents within a group home could be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own not in the group home. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, however it is a viable short term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together again.
