A group home for someone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside inside a group home may be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or might be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at one point live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it's a practical short term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
