Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time daily or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab option.
