LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb this pain. Somebody that is LGBT might not exactly feel safe in a conventional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be resolved to enable them to get better. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the event their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, and is an illustration of something which would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life without any alcohol and drugs.
