A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside inside a group home could be taking part in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at one point live independently not in the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a practical short term option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
