Medicaid is a form of health insurance available for many people who are in specific income brackets which qualifies them to receive this government funded insurance. Whether or not an individual is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only depend upon income however, and individuals shouldn't assume they don't qualify simply because they make an acceptable income. For instance, people who have a lot of dependents may qualify for Medicaid even when they earn what might be described as a reasonable income. Medicaid can also cover the expenses of treatment, if a person has been abusing drugs or alcohol and requires rehabilitation. There are lots of alcohol and drug treatment programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have distinct rules for what types of treatment are covered. Certain states only include outpatient rehabilitation services as an example while other states cover more extensive treatment such as a residential stay in long-term alcohol and drug treatment center. If someone is involved in substance abuse and wants help, they can use their Medicaid health coverage to obtain this help. If they do not have Medicaid plus don't have the cash or another type of medical health insurance to pay for treatment, they could see if they qualify for Medicaid and then sign up for an alcohol and drug treatment program which is approved in their state.
