A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. Residents in a group home might be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside of the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, but it's a feasible short term option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together.
