Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective treatment option.
