LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not feel comfortable in a traditional treatment facility amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and treatment counselors issues which must be resolved so that they can get better. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family, in the event that their family disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for drug use, which is a good example of something which would be resolved in rehabilitation.
