Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very useful in circumstances where standard rehabilitation facilities have fallen short, like coping with situations within a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such concerns may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or other really serious issues that are particular to women. Research has revealed that women can also get involved in abusing drugs more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to sickness as a consequence of drug abuse problems than males as a result. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and receiving treatment, a situation which can lead to disaster. That said, treatment services for women are designed to ensure that a women's needs are the focus and priority. Much like coed centers, drug and alcohol rehab facilities which offer treatment services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both common and gender-specific issues who have induced their drug abuse. Women also utilize the positive support from other female peers, plus some facilities which offer rehab services to women offer client beds for her kids.
