Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
